CEO News: July

What if the best investment decisions are the least exciting ones? Our CEO, Nauris Bloks, shares his perspective in this month's newsletter.

CEO news

Introduction

Summer is now at its peak, and I hope you have found time to slow down, enjoy the sun, the beach and the warm weather, and restore your energy before the busyness of autumn begins. I also hope your summer has included at least a little excitement.

Recently, the TWINO team gathered for our summer event. Part of the experience involved overcoming both fear and rational hesitation - descending by rope from the fourth floor of an old building and jumping from an eight-metre tower.

Standing at the top, every rational instinct tells you not to step forward. The experience is frightening and thrilling at the same time. Yet once it is over, the fear is replaced by an enormous feeling of satisfaction.

I believe searching for emotions like these is part of human nature.

We want excitement, uncertainty and the feeling that something important is happening. Unfortunately, we sometimes look for those same emotions in investing - and that can become very expensive.

Investing is often presented as something exciting - discovering the next breakthrough company, timing the market perfectly or spotting an opportunity before everyone else does. Occasionally, these stories end with spectacular returns - and those are the ones we all hear about. More often, however, excitement itself becomes the risk. It tempts us to chase momentum, trade too frequently and mistake volatility for opportunity.

The recent SpaceX IPO illustrates this well. Few companies generate as much enthusiasm - an ambitious vision, enormous potential and, of course, the Elon Musk factor. Investor excitement pushed the share price sharply higher after listing before it later gave back those gains and fell below the IPO price. SpaceX may well become an outstanding long-term company, but it reminds us of an important lesson - excitement, popularity and investment quality are not the same thing. Even a great company can become a poor investment if you buy it at the wrong price.

Recently, I found myself rebalancing my own investment portfolio. My first thought was probably the same as many investors have - perhaps I should look for something with a little more upside - and a little more excitement.

But then I asked myself a simple question - why do my investments need to be exciting at all?

After comparing ETFs, bonds, indices and other fixed-income investments, I realized I wasn't actually looking for excitement. I was looking for an investment with a predictable risk-and-return profile that could quietly do its job over many years. I then compared these alternatives with TWINO's investments. Naturally, I know our products better than anyone, so I encourage every investor to do their own due diligence. Still, it reassured me that our asset-backed fixed-income investments compared well with other long-term investment alternatives. And perhaps that is exactly where they belong. The best long-term investments rarely demand your attention every day. They shouldn't tempt you to check prices every hour or worry about tomorrow's market sentiment. Instead, they should have a clear purpose within your portfolio, an understandable risk profile and, above all, let you sleep well at night.

Of course, this is not investment advice. Every investor should assess their own financial situation, investment objectives and risk tolerance before making any investment decision. No investment is without risk, including those offered by TWINO. What this exercise reminded me is that, despite working in financial services every day, I ultimately want the same thing as most investors - to build long-term wealth without constantly thinking about my investments. To me, that is exactly what successful investing should feel like.

Latest on TWINO

FLEXI has now passed €1 million in total investments. It is still a relatively small milestone, but an important one for us, as it shows that investors value the ability to earn attractive returns while maintaining flexibility over their money. We continue to see significant potential for FLEXI and are already working on further improvements.

Development of the TWINO mobile app is also progressing well. Soon, investors will be able to withdraw funds directly to their bank accounts and invest in both the Primary and Secondary Markets without leaving the app.

Latest on Rentals

Summer has been relatively slow for real estate sales. We have reviewed pricing and current market conditions and adjusted the prices of selected properties to stimulate additional buyer interest.

We hope these changes will support further apartment sales over the coming months.

Latest on Recoveries: Russia & Vietnam

Based on the current repayment schedule, we expect the remaining Russia-related claims to be fully repaid next month. The last affected investors should receive repayments in accordance with the previously communicated conditions.

Completing these repayments would allow us to close a long and complicated chapter in TWINO's history.

In Vietnam, there are currently no significant new developments. We continue to follow the legal process and provide the necessary support to move it forward.

Latest in Poland

There are still no major developments regarding the implementation of CCD II in Poland, nor are there material updates concerning the UOKiK case involving Fincard. We continue to monitor both matters closely.

The good news is that our Polish lending business continues to develop according to plan and is delivering very positive results.

Conclusion

Our summer event reminded me that adrenaline has its place. It pushes us beyond our comfort zones and creates memories we'll remember for years. Investing serves a different purpose. Its job is not to entertain us. Its job is to help us build financial security over time. That is why the qualities that appear least exciting - patience, diversification, discipline and consistency - are often the ones that matter most. There is a well-known saying that investing should be more like watching paint dry or grass grow. It may not sound particularly inspiring, but history suggests that boring often beats exciting in the long run. So let life provide the excitement. Let your investments be boring.

Thank you for your continued trust and partnership.

Warm regards,

Nauris Bloks
